Our Church
Founded in 1953, Redeemer Lutheran Church has grown to encompass multiple buildings that serve our congregation and community. We constructed our facilities in 1955. A small white limestone plaque near the front entrance commemorates both the founding year of our church and the construction of our original buildings.
Main Church Sanctuary
The heart of our worship takes place in our beautiful sanctuary, featuring distinctive architectural elements that create an inspiring worship environment. Seven scissors trusses with Gothic-like styling support the ceiling, crafted from old virgin heart pine. This unique design eliminates the need for intermediate columns, creating a wide, open worship space that some say resembles the inverted keel of an ark.
Our sanctuary provides comfortable cushioned pew seating for at least 300 worshippers, with the ability to accommodate up to 350 people at overflow capacity when we add folding charts. During special events and services, we’ve welcomed even larger congregations with standing room only, creating a truly vibrant atmosphere of worship and praise.
Our sanctuary also includes a beautiful collection of stained glass windows.
Grade School Classrooms
Just through the side door of the church, a long hallway leads to our elementary education wing. Grade school classrooms line both sides of this hallway, providing dedicated learning spaces for our youngest students. These rooms also serve special purposes, such as preparing our Little Lambs Choir before their Sunday morning performances.
Fellowship Hall
Our middle school classroom building (serving grades six through eight) houses the fellowship hall, which serves multiple functions throughout the week. During the school day Monday through Friday, students use it as a lunchroom. The space features a full kitchen and regularly hosts adult Sunday school activities, church council meetings, and special events like our annual Christmas Eve goodie bag preparation for children.
We make the fellowship hall available for congregational use subject to scheduling availability, making it a versatile space for various church functions and community gatherings.
Redeemer Lutheran Activity Center (RLAC)
Our newest and largest facility, the Redeemer Lutheran Activity Center represents our commitment to serving both our congregation and the broader community. This comprehensive building houses:
- A full-sized commercial-grade kitchen, equipped to handle large events and gatherings
- Activity hall – a multipurpose space for meetings, Bible studies, potluck dinners, and receptions
- Basketball gymnasium – a regulation-size gym for recreation and large church and community events
The RLAC regularly hosts adult Sunday school classes, voter assembly meetings, Bible studies, and various social functions. As part of our community outreach efforts, outside groups and organizations can rent the facility for approved functions.
Meeting House
Expanding our facilities beyond the main campus, Redeemer owns a small house on Winthrop Avenue that serves as an additional meeting space.
